Personal Info

Andrew graduated from the University of Glasgow before securing a place on the highly selective General Professional Training (GPT) programme at the Edinburgh Dental Institute. Over the two year programme he gained experience across multiple dental disciplines and, during this time, gained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

He then spent a number of years within the West of Scotland and Greater Manchester Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery teams, including a post at Manchester Dental Hospital as a Specialty Dentist. Alongside this hospital role, Andrew provided NHS Oral Surgery and IV sedation services within primary care.

His exposure to implant dentistry began in Edinburgh and expanded significantly throughout these posts. To consolidate and formalise this experience, he completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Implantology (PGCertImp) at the University of Salford and, in the same year, he joined the teaching faculty and was subsequently appointed Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery at Edge Hill University for Implant Centres of Excellence.

A naturally enthusiastic educator, Andrew has developed a strong interest and skill in teaching, supported by meticulous data collection, detailed documentation and long-term case follow-up, habits shaped by his hospital background.

Today, Andrew lectures internationally, with particular focus on the use of synthetic bone grafting materials, reducing antibiotic use in implant dentistry and delivering efficient, patient-centred, evidence-based treatment pathways with predictable outcomes.

He is a member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons, the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI) and an elected member of SAAD. His commitment to advancing the field is reflected in his ongoing involvement in postgraduate education, both as a teacher and a lifelong learner.

Outside of dentistry, Andrew is married to Grace and they have three children. A Manchester City supporter, loves kitesurfing, football, surfing, running and cycling.
